Omega and Alpha: Understanding Smack’s Command-to-Edge Decision Platforms

Today’s Joint Force commanders are inundated with data, but they lack the context and tools necessary to distinguish what matters, understand the consequences of action, and make rapid, informed decisions.
To solve this problem, Smack has built Omega and Alpha: complementary platforms that allow better informed, higher-quality decisions to be made at the speed of war across echelons and warfighting functions, even in DDIL environments. They also enable the orchestration of autonomous systems at scale.
Omega and Alpha leverage Smack’s proprietary, domain-specific AI models that are trained using a reinforcement learning (RL) environment grounded in both the physics of war and expert human priors. This combination of proprietary tech and deep domain expertise is what enables us to deliver Decision Dominance to the Joint Force.
Omega: Smack's Decision Platform for Commanders
Omega is Smack’s decision platform for command-level planning and operations. It uses our domain-specific AI models, along with-third party LLMs grounded in Smack's proprietary context graph, to convert multimodal data and operational inputs into structured decision support in minutes. This enables commanders and staffs to generate, compare, update, and disseminate plans at the speed of war. Here’s how it works.
First, Omega ingests documents, geometries, and other planning products to Smack’s proprietary military context graph in order to interpret mission intent. It then reasons over the options available based on that mission intent, as well as additional available resources and enemy disposition, and creates courses of action (COAs) for the decision maker to achieve the mission while clearly understanding the risks inherent in each.

Omega then continues through fires and effects design, air superiority optimization, logistics handling and leverages a multi-fidelity machine learning environment that can rapidly test COAs to eliminate infeasible options quickly, while simultaneously validating plans down to the tactical edge.
Minutes after first ingesting commander intent, Omega displays a finalized plan in machine-readable formats or as clear operational briefings with visual overlays that can be distributed to appropriate units and platforms. The end result is campaign planning accelerated from months to minutes, and plan repairs in seconds.
Alpha: Smack’s Decision Platform for the Edge
Alpha is Smack’s decision platform for the edge. It combines the same proprietary Smack models used by Omega with specialized hardware, a unique UI, and third-party SLMs to enable campaign-informed decisions and orchestration of autonomous systems at the tactical edge, even in DDIL environments.
Alpha ingests sensor data (raw or processed), platform telemetry, mission plans, unit status, partner inputs, and higher-echelon guidance, then reasons over that data using cached mission context, policy constraints, and commander’s intent. A lightweight policy layer preserves alignment with ROE, mission objectives, and campaign priorities.

Built on a vendor-agnostic, MOSA-based architecture, Alpha integrates with the systems and networks units already carry, operating over available tactical communications and using episodic secure synchronization to receive updates and send feedback whenever connectivity permits.
It’s built for Type 1 Encrypted Tactical Communications, enabling even isolated units to make decisions informed by campaign-level equities.
