Smack Announces $32M in Funding to Build the First Frontier AI Lab for National Security
Monday, March 2, 2026

Smack has raised $32M in Seed and Series A funding to scale the first frontier AI lab for national security and deliver Decision Dominance to the DoW.
Smack, the first frontier AI lab for national security, has announced $32M in Seed and Series A funding to support our mission of delivering Decision Dominance to the U.S. Department of War (DoW), our allies, and partners. The announcement comes after Smack secured contracts with multiple branches of the U.S. armed forces in 2025.
Geodesic Capital and Costanoa Ventures led the Series A round, with participation from Point72 Ventures, Felicis, First In, Scribble Ventures, Bloomberg Beta, Washington Harbour Partners, Palumni VC, Fulcrum Venture Group, Anomaly Fund, and Fortitude Ventures. Combined with our initial Seed round led by Point72 Ventures, the funding will enable Smack to scale our technical hiring and deepen our ongoing operational partnership with the DoW.
The Need for Decision Dominance Now
After two decades of fighting the War on Terror, the U.S. is not fully prepared to deter and/or win a potential WWIII against a peer adversary. Doing so will require (1) reestablishing the military industrial base, (2) rapidly scaling autonomous systems, and (3) enabling Decision Dominance — the ability to analyze unprecedented amounts of multimodal sensor data in real time and convert those analyses into the right decisions across the Kill Chain faster than our adversaries.
Smack was founded specifically to enable Decision Dominance.
As the first frontier AI lab for national security, Smack is building domain-specific AI models, powered by deep reinforcement learning, for the singular purpose of either deterring WWIII, or winning it if necessary. Our dual product suites, Omega and Alpha, are designed to fundamentally break down siloed decision time horizons within the DoW, enabling campaign-informed planning in seconds for 1 to 6 months in the future, 1 to 4 days in the future, and right now.
Smack was co-founded by Andrew Markoff and Clint Alanis, two MARSOC veterans with more than twenty years of combined combat experience.
“In the short term, Decision Dominance will be the deciding factor in preventing WWIII because it’s the only goal that’s achievable before 2027,” said Smack Co-Founder and CEO Andrew Markoff. “Not enough has changed in how we run our decision-making processes in over a decade. In the age of AI and autonomous systems, that’s a significant problem. Solving it will require combining multiple different, extremely complex technologies to develop reasoning models rooted in physics that can make complex time-space calculations with precious resources in seconds. That’s what we’re building.”
With this new funding, Smack will rapidly expand our technical leadership and scale up the development of our product suites, models, and applications to serve all branches of the military. Having already secured contracts with multiple branches of the U.S. armed forces, including the Joint Fires Network (JFN) and the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL), the new funding will supercharge Smack’s hiring as we rapidly expand our research and development.
